Last Sunday I met Ellen K. at the Joslyn for a short lecture by Caldecott Award winning children's illustrator David Diaz. He also led a tour of the show featuring children's book illustrations and illustrators. He chose favorite illustrators and then rounded up original images, sketches, notes and drawings for this wonderful exhibit. I loved his remark that he knew he wanted to be a "drawer" in the 1st grade. He had a worksheet for learning the alphabet and there was a "fill in the blank" with n_se and a line drawing of a nose. He completed the face and never looked back.
