We ran up to Minneapolis and spent the weekend at Steve & Mary's and were enthusiastically hosted by Anton as well. Anton is acutely aware and respectful of magic in the world such as leprechauns and gnomes and our Saturday morning hike along the river near Fort Snelling quickly became a hunt for gold coins at the bases of trees (I am a believer) and other telltale signs of magic in the woods. An enthusiastic Packers fan, he has also created a "shrine" on the fireplace mantle to the Packers and read the sports page cover to cover for today's predictions. I don't know the outcome yet, but I do believe in magic and if you are wearing your green underwear in the shadow of the shrine (Mantle) well, it just has to come true.
After dinner,we drove down to Lake of the Aisles to see the Loppet--a cross country skiing/luminary trail festival extrordinaire! It was charming and magical to see 6,000 skiiers, thousands and thousands of luminaries lighting the trails and the lake full of bonfires and luminary "sculptures"! Unbelievably cool!

Sunday morning, Beth and Kayleen joined us for brunch at Steve & Mary's. Beth brought cinnamon rolls and Mary made a "rosti egg casserole" which was soooooooo good! I have attached the recipe-and yes, it has TURNIPS--with gruyere. I am sold on this. After baking 30 minutes, you make 8 small indentations in the potatoes and place one egg in each spot; and proceed to bake for a while longer. It was beautiful and yummy.

We had such fun this weekend and now, in front of the Super Bowl game, my nerves are setting in for Anton---Go Pack Go!
