Red Lodge Montana

On June 29th Kevin and I headed west in our packed car and stopped in O'Neill NE for the night. We enjoyed dinner with a little steak and red wine at what I would call a "real old timer" steakhouse.  The following day we booked it to Billings MT but stopped at Chief Crazy Horse (a/k/a Thunder Mountain and we we there during an approaching thunder storm!) I really found the story intriguing regarding the sculptor not just saying "yes" to a commissioned piece, but saying"yes" to a lifetime of work. It is now only 1/2 completed.  We did a real drive-by of Mt. Rushmore but it was a valuable road trip just taking in the barren west and desolate plains of Nebraska-South Dakota and Wyoming! (I had questions like "where are the people" "how do they govern" and "where are the schools"?)

Emily flew into Billings and we all had brunch with Nick and Nicki in Billings before going out to her parent's house in Columbus.

After a few attempts we found our cabin in Red Lodge :) lets just say it was VAGUELY descriptive.  As we drove up the drive this lovely deer greeted us and its partner bedded under the pine out back every night.  The cabin was just what we needed--4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with large living spaces, patios a laundry room and my bathroom had a dressing room and jacuzzi :D  The holes in the screen look suspiciously like  a bear paw (claw).

One of four baths!

 Late night jar decorating party!
