I was recommending my top 5 books this week to Christin, and I of course included Yellow Raft on Blue Water --a book filled with themes in triplicate- braids, lives, strong women, fates- you name it. Everyone should read it--and the fact that it was written by a man--I mean, how do you know us so well? (and you too, Wally Lamb)
Life in Triplicate
Tonight I have a sister helping her husband recover from prostate surgery and celebrating that his "nodes are clear but we're feeling nauseous"; (I am relieved)
A sister who bought a condo (villa?) and is entering a new and very welcome phase of young widowhood----rebirth! (I am elated)
And a sister who is hearing the news that the latest chemo has not helped her husband's lung cancer but he is a candidate for a new trial chemo drug. (I am sad and worried)
I am not the daughter who can "take a shift", "give a ride" or even "find a doctor"....I am just one of the three sisters who receives the "report"--sometimes it is good and I rise, and sometimes it is unwelcome and I sink. Either way... I will join them.
