Baby I love you..

We enjoyed Friday (the 4th) with Joe and Christin (and Leo)
Our week at the lake was unique this year because although we did our best to coordinate, people's lives change and all you can do is adapt! Emily is in the Philippines and Mitch is in CNA class in Portland. (Joe and Christin are married and Nick and Nicki will welcome new baby girl to their home in Portland!-an exciting year on the move :D)

We enjoyed the first few days with Joe and Christin-who had friends join us on Saturday the 5th. We also had the official July 4th party at Nohner's on the 5th.  Nick and Nicki drove all day Sunday and were at the lake for dinner hot off the grill at 7:30. We wasted no time hopping into the boat and cracking a beer as well!

Floating on the lake in the boat and watching the sky

Sawyer prepares to have fun..............

Joe's friend (Ann Arbor days) Dereck and Kileene and their little guy Sawyer joined us Saturday--his first trip from home and his first boat ride-of course he hated the life jacket!

Monday morning the kids went fishing early and then we all scrambled to prepare for the shower

Skewering mozzarella and tomatoes with basil

Stuffing "Ready to pop" sacks with Christin's popcorn mix

Drink station-Jalapeno limeade , cherry lemon water or Pom Prosecco with pop rocks...

"Red White and Baby" shower with inspirations by Emily

Feeling baby kicking

Just as we started the buffet it began to rain--luckily we had enough room inside and all was well!
The actual menu included:

Trifle: Layers of Blueberries, vanilla yogurt, Martha Stewart's Apricot pistachio granola, strawberries, strawberry yogurt, and a little more granola

Quiches: Leek, mushroom, asparagus and swiss

Blueberry mini-bundts with lemon glaze

Watermelon stars on polka dot straws

Caprese skewers: Basil end on skewer followed by marinated mozzarella ball and cherry tomato-loop basil to other side of skewer to cradle the whole thing and drizzle with balsamic.

Christin's 4th of July  a/k/a  Ready to Pop Snack mix  (this is an easy delicious keeper!)

 Jalapeno Limeade

Looking beautiful
The photos are a little interspersed with games and gifts, but I kept getting ahead myself trying to load pics and blog--its out of order, just enjoy it!
Cuteness

Guessing songs-they are both really good at it!

Kathy drawing pictionary

"teething"  --Baby word pictionary was a blast--with each side of the room against the other...

Cuties

John and Ardie...Ardie started her own separate business (office) on this morning and was receiving text messages that the furniture would be 14 days late!

This is Kayleen's card--she said
"I am glad you are having a girl, because girls are the BEST-(no offense Nick)"

Soon to be great grandma Bernice
Bernice's baby quilt

Christin enjoyed her playlist as much as we did! It was a great game!

I am sure it wasn't a "peanut" but.....

Kayleen loved everything about the shower and was an enthusiastic gift giver-her mom made her choose "just 3" outfits to give the baby.

Kayleen, Beth, Shirley and Jan -fun to have the aunties in the house

I look as "pleased as punch" don't I?!! Ahhh, babies.............

Peg Nohner's baby quilt

Emily's soft sleepers from Gap Kids and Nick saying why can't everyone's clothes   be so soft..............

Hair bows, hair bands, flowers.................its a girl :D

I made some frames that say "I luv Mom and Pop"

Reminding him to behave at the baby shower ;D

Rita reads a satirical baby book--pretty witty! Product Details

The list of gifts started to be "pants with bear  ; pants with bunny; pants with fox" etc!

"Man Bag" from Julie and Amy--Nick said "........ there's a new Dad in town"

Lastly, everyone that wanted o could decorate a diaper--everyone did!

And we wondered if they would do this :D

Must be time to ski!

Christin Nicki and Kelly from Mnpls enjoy the afternoon of the shower

2014

"Captain Floppy Ears" as Christin said...

Portrait of a loyal dog--Leo became very agitated especially when Joe was in the water, floating on his back waiting to ski (I never realized that a person looks a little helpless bobbing there) He was ready and willing to retrieve Joe at Christin's command!

Many loon families and one that loves our bay

Lots of time to talk..........on Joe and Christins' last morning :(

Nicki takes a photo a week and this was lucky # 23

My selfie on an afternoon boat ride (we spent time in the sun to keep warm-it was a tad cool! This I sent as a joke to Eileen at the office and told her to stop texting me questions about files , i was trying to relax!

Look at that sky!

The water was calm most of every day

Continues to dominate :D

But she caught this beauty after we left on Sunday

Fishing is good!

This is why they have MN postcards with cartoons showing fish jumping into boats!

Waited til sundown to attack the hornet's nest by the shed!

Nicki powered through a back ache much of the week--likely the boat, car and bed were just too much! Nick reads aloud.

Fishing in the rain

Our new boat has a bimini top which left us cozy and dry!

Nick and Nicki 2014 --this is in what I call "Pelican Rock" behind "Eagle Island" but its probably something like Sundeboeckers Bay :D

We travel to Portland Aug 21st for a 3 day weekend and then back out as a family for Thanksgiving week.....................another big year for this Mom and Pop too :D
