Sun and Fun

We took a trip to Phoenix last week--What a great March break to see sunshine and friends!

Kevin attended a Mayo Clinic Conference at a resort in Phoenix and Kate  and Bill joined him for dinner a couple of times. I arrived on Friday night and we all went directly to the Twisted Lizard Tavern to see Mike play in his band, The Flashbacks. So much fun! They were great and we had a blast catching up with Chris and Pat (shared our duplex through med school) and Teri and Mike.

The next day Phoenix had record highs of 97 and Bill suggested we head to Sedona --

Chris, moi, Teri and Kate -high school friends !
The road to Sedona is absolutely gorgeous--I just took some pics from the window

As the road through Sedona was traffic jammed, we took a turn and went to Jerome AZ!

On the way we stopped at Bootlegger Park and sat down by the river and talked--so gorgeous!

Bernice is having a rough time of it back home and we felt gently supported by the love of friends

Jerome is an old mining town literally built into the side of the mountain. We were up at "The Asylum" restaurant and had this tremendous breathtaking view of the valley. You can see Flagstaff in the distance

 Asylum Restaurant
Lunch on the deck --such a view!

Sunday morning we hit the Desert Botanical Garden early and loved the flowering desert plants, mostly cacti!
A Chihuly that remained in the Botanical Garden after the display I saw last year.

These are called Chenille-and they look so luxurious don't they?

There is a lizard in the middle shadow…..

Fruit for the butterflies

We spent the afternoon visiting by Burke's pool and the guys caught up on some basketball (March madness!). Much to Kate's surprise (really, Kate?) Kevin jumped in the recently refilled pool and cooled off before we flew away home.
The Mayo conference is annual…….! We'll be back  :D

THANKS KATE and BILL!!
