Silo Art

This was the beautiful banquet "hall" set for 500 in the shadow of the art silos

The silo to the left of "bacon" (go figure) represents the western Nebraska  aquifer and how it has depleted--it was done by a Hawaiian artist so I thought that was very ecologically and regionally sensitive of him.   The silo  with the red flowers was the creation of a 10 year old!

Imagine a table for 500 at the base of these beautiful pieces --we had 5 courses, all prepared by local chefs, using local foods, served family style--so it was truly a wonderful sharing of bread and conversation. We had cheese trays, bison, goat's milk honey ice cream and pumpkin beer to name a few.

Peggy had submitted a piece for consideration by the panel of judges, but sadly, was not chosen--Dean told her later that hers was still the best!

A truly remarkable event!  We were given our beer glasses from the Nebraska Brewing Co. and Kevin said he is starting his first batch next week so that it will be ready in time for Thanksgiving.
