On my drive last Sunday I was reminded by my ipod shuffle that Graceland is one of my all time favorite albums. Rediscover it if you haven't heard it in a while. Discover it if you are unfamiliar. As I remember (pretty sketchy on this) this was produced during a time when the US was not doing business with Africa as a political type of sanction on apartheid activities. Paul Simon took a lot of flak for working in any way with African "establishment" even African artists. He held the opinion that this was a mutual artistic endeavor and could only lead to strengthening the ties with African culture. I love the African dancers (haha--especially in contrast with Paul's non-dance moves!) Check it out (the title is a link) and the rest of Graceland via You tube.
