Bon Iver

Calgary

 Holocene

 NPR Concert
Thanks to the kids, we enjoyed the Bon Iver concert at Stir Concert Cove last night.  It was a picture perfect night, 65 degrees and we settled in our lawn chairs for a spectacular show.  The warm- up performer was Kathleen  Edwards   and she was great, but very very low key.  Kathleen Edwards

Bon Iver and ten piece band took the stage and rocked it. He has a haunting and beautiful voice as you can see on the Calgary etc links, and then contrasts it with this pounding frenzied bass beat which usually builds until you can't hear anything!  As I told Mitchell, we were the "oldest cool people" there (joke).  I loved his voice and the concert was phenomenal.  The stage had about twelve poles which were the light effects and that was neat because when they were pulsing red with orange at the top it looked like fire and when they were blue, it evoked night sky, and white was barren--so there were great effects with those minimalist poles of light. And lots and lots of bass.
