Our last week in Omaha before heading west to the Montana wedding holds lots of fun activities. Thursday night we were able to watch SC play Arkansas in the CWS at TD Ameritade Park. What a beautiful facility and a gorgeous night! Today I read about the newest 4 story apartment building with rooftop bar and grill: Blatt: Beer and Table which at the entrance to the new facility is destined to be the first outpost of "Blattville" ala Wrigleyville. Last night we enjoyed the June special "Mediterranean Pizza" from LaCasa. It is a 3 pepper pizza lightly spritzed with balsamic. LaCasa is shipping nationwide these days. Mitch's best buddy Joey Ferzley was not there to bake it (he was shooting hoops with Mitch down the street!) but it was wonderful. I must be riding the diet regime hard because Kevin said it was the first pizza he has had since New Year's Eve!
After dinner Kev and I returned east to the Old Market and walked through the gallery exhibits at Artists Cooperative Gallery and then snagged a street-side table at LaBuvette for a glass of wine. My new favorite place! Where else can you be under a metal canopy that extends out to the street, shielded by hanging drapes of 40 year old vines enjoying French wine and watching the streets come to life on a Friday night? The entire scene is lit from within (even Spaghetti Works looks cool when it gets dark!) and it was pure delight. With a french cheese sampler, daily house made bread and a view like this--I have found my luncheon spot! LaBuvette
More art highlights this weekend include an "installed rainbow" at the Bemis ( Rainbow ) and Architects of Air at Midtown Crossing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaCUdjvm2-I
Will I ever get to Junkstock or Yoga Rocks the Park tomorrow--who knows? My car is in the shop getting ready for the trip and I rely on the goodwill of Kevin (which is heavily reliant on the temperature of the day!)
What a fun place Omaha has become--really quite by surprise but most certainly by design we have morphed into a destination spot. Hurray!
