A doctor, a scooter and butterflies

Last night was the Nebraska Medical Association Induction and the start of Kevin's year as president. His recent leg injury, surgery and scooter (no driving for 6 weeks!) have slowed his activities somewhat and must be frustrating, but he doesn't show it.  I joined him for the 5:30 cocktail hour and dinner at Regency Marriott, along with Diane, Kathy, Lou, Kate & Bill Burke, Kirti and Rakesh Gupta (current partner), and Pierre and Anna Lavedan (previous partner).  It was a fun night and wonderful to have friends and family in attendance.
Patrick Passarelli was also there with his delightful girlfriend Theresa, as  a student scholarship recipient. Patrick is a third year medical student at UNMC.  He got an enthusiastic and unexpected roar of approval from the head table :D

Family for cocktails --thanks guys!

A memorable induction ala scooter!

Sandy Johnson received a "Friend of Medicine" award and is both  a friend and mentor to Kevin-formerly the director of NMA, she is with the malpractice carrier Copic and had Kevin on the legal -medical round table wherein medical malpractice cases are presented and assessed for settlement vs trial.

The family, Burkes and Lavedans joined us at the head table.

The brochure for the evening also contained a full page bio and included notes on all of the kids--which was very sweet!

The butterfly is a bit flashy,  but the theme was Change.  I would have had butterflies, but Kevin gave a wonderful speech that originally included more political rhetoric which we edited due to the overwhelming number of non-Democrats in Nebraska medical circles :D  (ask them to be open to changes but don't ask them to embrace it!)

The kids were there in print and in spirit!

Congrats Kev--you will enjoy the year I am sure of it.
